ayu cacao

Ceremonial cacao is a raw and nutrient-dense cacao, naturally rich in minerals, antioxidants and theobromine which is a compound known to offer balanced, sustained energy while supporting focus and calming the body. When you drink cacao ceremonially you invite yourself to slow down, land in your body and arrive fully in the present moment. The effect isn't just about the cacao itself, but about the intention, presence and space around you - whether it's savoured in silence, in community or as a small everyday ritual.

"I began exploring cacao without understanding its power. After a ceremony, I experienced a deep connection that showed me cacao is a natural medicine that deserves respect."

Ingredients

There's no right way to drink cacao. Find what feels best for you ♡

20–40 g. Cacao

Start with 20–25 g. and tune in to how it feels. A typical amount is 20–30 g. for everyday use and 30–40 g. for ceremony.

200 ml. liquid

Use water for an intense flavour, plant milk for a creamy texture or coconut milk for a richer experience. Optional: cardamom, cinnamon, honey, chili or vanilla to taste.

1. Choose your amount
Start with about 20–25 g. of cacao or let your intuition guide you.

2. Chop the cacao
Cut or chop the cacao into smaller pieces so it melts more easily.

3. Warm it gently
Add the cacao and any spices to a pot. Pour in the liquid a little at a time, stirring over low heat. Continue until the cacao is fully melted and has reached the consistency you like.

It's important that the cacao doesn't boil. Keep the heat low to preserve its flavour and quality.

Tip: for an extra creamy texture, blend it at the end.

Qualities of the cacao

Ceremonial cacao is more than a cosy cup. It holds natural plant compounds, minerals and nutrients that each, in their own way, can support the body and help create the particular feeling many associate with cacao: calm, presence and gentle energy. Here you can read more about some of the key benefits of ayu cacao — from theobromine and magnesium to flavanols and anandamide.

Anandamide

Also known as the 'bliss molecule.' One of the compounds that makes cacao something special and something you can feel.

Iron

Ayu cacao is a significant source of plant-based iron. One cup covers nearly half of men's daily requirement.

Copper

One cup of ayu covers your entire daily needs. Copper is essential for energy metabolism and the body's natural antioxidant defences.

Theobromine

What gives cacao its gentle energy. Unlike coffee, there's no jitters, no crash. Just calm, sustained energy.

Flavanols

Are natural antioxidants that are preserved because the cacao is minimally processed. Research links them to better blood circulation and protection of the body's cells.

Magnesium

One cup of ayu covers up to 40% of women's daily needs. Magnesium supports muscles, the nervous system and helps the body relax.

Manganese

Supports the body's energy production, antioxidant defences and bone health. One cup of ayu covers over half of women's daily needs.
